Steven Scarr Hairdressing Take a Look at the Best Celebrity Style at the Oscars 2015

Last night acting ‘royalty’ came out in force at the star-studded 87th annual Academy Awards in Hollywood, also known as the 2015 Oscars.

Huge congrats go to British actor Eddie Redmayne (pictured left), who picked up the best actor Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in ‘The Theory of Everything’. A-lister Julianne Moore’s emotionally charged performance in ‘Still Alice’ also earned her the best actress Oscar.

While the celebs partied the night away, the Steven Scarr Hairdressing team turned our heads to who stole the show when it came to hair and beauty on the red carpet.

We can recreate any of the fabulous hairstyles below at our hairdressers in Coxhoe. To book your next appointment call us on 0191 377 1830 or use our secure online booking system by clicking here.

Best & worst dressed celebs at the 2015 Oscars

Jared Leto delighted us in this lavender tuxedo and white shoes and you cannot help but have a certain respect for Lady Gaga who wore a white Alaïa dress which she paired with a pair of red shiny gloves and a matching red hair accessory! As always, Lady Gaga has divided opinion here – we love her pared down hair and make-up but feel the dress looks a bit matronly (and as for the gloves – no comment!)

The winner of the night when it came to oozing style was Rita Ora in a beautiful midnight blue Marchesa dress and a new hairstyle – a simple slicked back look. Rita harnessed old fashioned Hollywood glamour in a dress which had an amazing silhouette, stunning fishtail and gold embellishment.

Neutral gowns & elegant hairstyles at the Oscars

Elegant hairstyles were teamed with neutral colours for several of the actresses. Oscar winner Julianne Moore wore a custom Chanel haute couture dress made by Karl Lagerfeld! The organza gown featured 80,000 small white hand-painted resin sequins and flowers.

Kerry Washington looked fabulous in a peplum Miu Miu gown with an embroidered top, and Lupita Nyong’o got it absolutely right with her Calvin Klein halterneck dress created by Francisco Costa and featuring cascading strands of 6,000 pearls.

Red tuxedos, dresses & accessories at the Oscars 2015

We love David Oyelowo (pictured with Michael Keaton) for wearing this lovely red Dolce & Gabana tuxedo, demonstrating that men can break the ‘rules’ and go against wearing a black tux when the invitation says black tie! Nicole Kidman looked elegant in her shimmering nude dress with red belt. We particularly like her wavy hairstyle.

Top marks to Rosamond Pike who looked sensational in a red Givenchy lace gown which she teamed with elegant hair pulled back into a bun.

Nude gowns at the Oscars 2015

Jennifer Aniston kept her hair simple and long and gave the red carpet her usual amount of va-va-voom in a nude coloured Versace gown with slit to the knee.

The same cannot be said for Jennifer Lopez whose Elie Saab embellished dress was anything but simple. The dress had a fairytail feel about it but also a sexy plunging neckline. We’re glad she kept her hair in a simple ponytail which was perfect for such a big gown.

Zoe Saldana looked perfect in a body-skimming nude gown, a statement necklace and pretty curls framing her face.
