Hair Replacement System – Before, During & After Transformation Process
Hair loss can be an emotional and deeply personal experience. Whether caused by post-pregnancy changes, menopause, weight loss, hormonal shifts, stress, medical conditions, COVID-related shedding, or general thinning, changes in your hair can have a significant impact on confidence and how you feel day to day.
Many clients tell us they begin avoiding photos, styling their hair less, or simply feel like they’ve “lost themselves” as their hair changes. The good news is that advanced, discreet solutions are now available that can restore both hair and confidence.
At Steven Scarr Hairdressing, we are proud to offer one of the North East’s newest advanced hair replacement services: the Scalp Replica Hair Replacement System (0.04 PU System). This innovative, non-shaven system is designed to replicate the appearance of a real scalp while blending seamlessly with your own hair for an ultra-realistic, undetectable finish. As specialists in hair thinning and hair loss solutions, we regularly support clients experiencing changes linked to menopause, rapid weight loss, stress, hormonal imbalance, medical treatment, and naturally fine or thinning hair.
Using real human hair, every system is bespoke in colour, density, cut, and styling, allowing us to create a result tailored entirely to you. The system moves, parts, and feels like natural hair while providing discreet, long-lasting wear.
Delivered within our private consultation space, every appointment is approached with professionalism, sensitivity, and complete discretion. If you are considering support for hair thinning or hair loss, we invite you to book a private consultation and discover a solution designed to help you feel like yourself again.

THE CONSULTATION - UNDERSTANDING YOUR HAIR GOALS
Every transformation begins with a detailed consultation. During this appointment, we discuss your hair concerns, lifestyle, and desired outcome. We assess your natural hair density, colour match, and base fit to ensure the hair replica system blends flawlessly.
You will also have a patch test, followed by a casting, which is where we carefully assess the size, shape, and detailed requirements of your system, including colour matching and overall design. This ensures every element is accurately tailored before your system is custom crafted by our specialist supplier to be made perfectly for you (this takes around 6 weeks).
A wide range of colours is available, including blondes, brunettes, red tones, and bespoke fashion shades such as balayage and ombré. All systems are created using premium quality human hair for the most natural, realistic finish.
This is a relaxed, supportive space where you can ask questions and explore options without pressure. Many clients already feel reassured at this stage, as they begin to clearly understand what’s possible and how personalised the process truly is.
HOW HAIR LOSS CAN MAKE YOU FEEL
Before fitting, many clients notice:
- Reduced volume at the crown or parting
- Thinner ponytails or styling limitations
- Visible scalp in certain lighting
- Loss of confidence in everyday styling
This can happen gradually or suddenly, especially with hormonal changes, pregnancy, postpartum hair loss, COVID-related shedding, or stress-related thinning.
A hair replica system offers a gentle, non-surgical way to restore density exactly where it’s needed most.

THE FITTING PROCESS - MEDICAL GRADE ADHESIVE APPLICATION
Once the hair replacement system is colour matched and prepared, we begin the fitting process. The scalp is carefully cleansed and prepped first to ensure maximum hold and a seamless, natural finish. This step is essential in achieving a secure yet completely undetectable result.
Before application, the medical-grade adhesive is allowed to cure for approximately 20 minutes on both the scalp and the hair system. This ensures the adhesive reaches the ideal tackiness and strength for a secure, long-lasting bond.
A medical-grade adhesive or specialist attachment system is then carefully applied to secure the system in place. This adhesive is designed specifically for scalp use, meaning it is:
- Skin-safe and gentle
- Long-lasting but removable when needed
- Flexible for natural movement
- Comfortable for daily wear
PLACEMENT – BLENDING THE HAIR SYSTEM SEAMLESSLY
Next, the real human hair system is carefully placed over the thinning area and secured into position.
The hair is designed with either a hand-tied silk or lace base, which mimics the appearance of the scalp, making them incredibly realistic and discreet. Once in place, your natural hair is gently blended through the topper to ensure a flawless, undetectable finish.
A properly fitted and styled natural-looking hair topper is virtually undetectable in everyday life.

AFTER - STYLED, BLENDED & CONFIDENCE RESTORED
The final stage is all about personal styling. Clients often say this is the moment everything “clicks” — seeing their hair fuller, healthier, and more like themselves again.
Once fitted, the hair is:
- Cut and shaped to suit your face shape
- Styled to match your preferred look (straight, wavy, voluminous, etc.)
- Blended seamlessly with your natural hair for a cohesive finish
MAINTENANCE & REAPPLICATION (EVERY 4–6 WEEKS)
Your hair replacement system is designed to stay secure and natural-looking for daily wear, typically requiring maintenance every 4–6 weeks depending on lifestyle and hair growth. As the hair grows and the system naturally moves with it, the bond will begin to loosen slightly over time. This is completely normal and simply indicates that a maintenance appointment is due.
To safely remove the system, we use a specialised nozzle applicator to gently apply a professional remover solution directly over the bonded areas. This solution works quickly and comfortably, breaking down the adhesive without any pulling or discomfort. The remover transforms into a soft, gel-like consistency, allowing the system to lift away easily. Both the scalp and the hair system are then carefully combed through and thoroughly shampooed to ensure all residue is completely removed.
Once clean and refreshed, a new layer of medical-grade adhesive is applied using the same careful preparation process as your initial fitting. The system is then securely reattached, leaving it fresh, comfortable, and undetectable once again.
This maintenance process ensures your hair remains natural-looking, secure, and beautifully blended at all times.
